Identification has been difficult as there are not enough details pointing to a particular service record, however we believe the details below to be correct.

Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers Died Thursday 16/08/1917 aged

Buried at Bedford House Cemetery,West-Vlaanderen, Belgium, 2.5 kms south of Ieper.

Son of the late George Hester; husband of M. H. L. Hester, of 27D, Bramham Gardens, Earl’s Court, London.

This is the only record for an EH Hester that the Commonwealth War Graves Commission has. There is no indication of a connection to Billericay

  • I am trying to find out more about Captain Edgar Hazel Hester. Do you think that he was brought up as a Roman Catholic? His father George Hester appears to have become alienated from his very wealthy Oxford family, and that might help to explain it (although the fact that George married his housekeeper didn’t go down well either).
