Mayflower 375th Anniversary Plaque

Anniversaries pass every year, some almost unnoticed. This, nearly 25 years before next years 400th anniversary commemorates, without referring to it, the 375th anniversary of the Mayflower sailing to America. It is in the boundary wall of the parish church, St Mary Magdalen, Great Burstead and is shown here being unveiled by two American decedents of the original Mayflower passengers.

Also referred to is Bob Carpenter. In addition to being churchwarden he also had an extensive collection of local books and postcards.
