Brentwood and District Young Farmers Ploughing Challenge Cup won by Bert in 1951, 1952 & 1953

Bert French was awarded the Championship Cup for 1st prize in the mounted ploughing class of annual Brentwood Young Farmer’s Club match for three consecutive years – 1951, 1952 and 1953. He was presented with the cup which he was able to keep having won three times along with a model tractor.

Following his success Bert was invited to demonstrate ploughing in Ireland in 1954 for Rotary Hoes the tractor manufacturer.

Note: Wash Road is in Billericay but was classed as Laindon at the time of the news report.
