On Tuesday 16th April 2013 residents of Laindon Road were surprised to look out of their windows and see that the old weir had returned outside Weir Cottages.
In a striking similarity to the old pictures of the weir which originally filled part of the road, water flooding from a mainhole cover linked to the water tower in the grounds of Albion Court filled the road in the same place that the weir occupied recreating a bygone image.
Essex and Suffolk Water responsible for the water tower arrived within the hour and continue to investigate the source of the deluge.
