Sergeant Percy Edward Hislop

Service Number ‘6696’ – Border Regiment, 2nd Bn.

Killed in action on 1st July 1916 aged 31, the first day of the Somme during the Battle of Albert.

Buried at Dantzig Alley British Cemetery, Mametz in France.

Percy was the son of Hardy and Marianna Hislop and in 1911 is shown in the Census as living at Ingleside in Western Road. In 1912 he married Beatrice A Bass. They had two offspring, Marjorie and Rowland.
